SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS

Created the iSeries
security industry’s first browser based product configuration utility using Tomcat, Java, Java Beans and JSP.
·
Led development of
Big-IP release v3.1, which won the Editor’s Choice Award for Web Content
Switching features from Network Computing magazine.
·
“Hands on”
responsibility for several performance improvements to Big-IP, which led to
critical increase in throughput of more than 3 times to 1 Gbps.
·
Developed and launched
two new networking products for ATI.
Each grew so quickly they earned a place among their top 10 best selling
products for that year with sales of $5 million and $4.2 million, respectively.
·
Launched a new optical
Networking media product, and then created complementary products to form a
complete product line which doubled its run rate to reach $8.4M in sales. It was ATI’s # 2 selling product line that
year.
·
Turned around the
declining media division by spearheading the development and release of several
key media products. These products
achieved immediate financial and critical success and led to award of new
divisional responsibilities.
Consultant Clearview, WA 2004 - Present
Provide
consulting services to Seattle area companies with a focus on software
development, network security, and program management. Clients and employers include: local provider of health insurance, small
network security software product company, startup developing a security
management appliance and Portal Player, a $300M company that is the primary
supplier of integrated media CPU controllers and firmware for the Apple iPod.
In
this latter Program Management role: developed product and market requirements
documents, created project schedules with milestones, drove development
debugging efforts to meet schedules, monitored Indian SQA efforts, and
spearheaded a major overhaul of the product release process that led to a
substantial improvement in parallel firmware product development.
The PowerTech Group Kent, WA 2002 - 2004
VP
Product Development
Led a 10 person
product development team that defined, designed, developed, and maintained
network software security products on the iSeries line of IBM computers for
this $3 million, privately held company.

The product team
produced more than one product release per month with several unique
differentiating features that revitalized the product line with a subsequent
doubling of revenues.
Connectra Software Seattle,
WA 2001
VP Engineering and CTO
After consulting with
this pre-money software start-up for several months, accepted their offer to
join as the VP Engineering/CTO producing a 3-tiered web based content
management software product based on Java JSP.
F5 Networks Seattle,
WA 2000
Director of Software Product Development
F5 Networks is a $100
million (in 2000) provider of Internet Infrastructure products for traffic and
content management.

Under the direction of
the Senior VP of product development, led 4 different groups of approximately
30 engineers, 4 development managers and one program manager in the development
of Big-IP, F5’s award winning Internet Traffic Management product.
·
Developed over 5 major
new versions of Big-IP, one of which included the best selling SSL
termination/decryption configuration.
Allied Telesyn International (ATI) Bothell, WA 1995
- 1999
Vice President & General Manager
ATI is a privately held
international (worldwide ex-Japan) Local Area Networking (LAN) hardware and software
supplier with 1998 revenues of approximately $150 million.
·
Reported to Senior VP of
Marketing and Engineering with general P&L management responsibility for
two divisions which combined for $75 million in international sales with gross margins of over 50% and a
$3 million operating budget.
·
Resolved a critical
technical product support issue for a major European customer; achieved total
closure of the issue, leading to the customer becoming a reference account,
which helped double sales of this product in Europe during the second half of
1998.
Prior positions held at ATI: Senior Engineering Manager and Software Engineering Manager.
Previous
Experience in the High Tech industry includes: Senior Software Engineering Manager, Principal
Software Engineer, Senior Program Manager, Product Manager, National Sales
Support Manager, Financial Computer Systems Analyst, and Project Manager for
such companies as QMS Printers, Digital Equipment Corporation and Polaroid.
